SCHOOL BASED MENTORing

The School Based Mentoring program model places part-time screened, trained, and supervised mentors at some of the schools in Routt County. Mentors provide guidance, support and tutoring to each of their 10 target students whose qualifying criteria are similar to the CBM program. Mentors spend a minimum of one hour per week with each of their target students, promoting the elements of positive youth development, and assisting with academics, social-emotional issues, and decisions-making skills. They also plan and implement weekly in-school and after-school programs, and service-learning opportunities which are offered to all students in their respective schools.

2021 - 2022 sCHOOL based mentors

South Routt Middle and High School

Anita Hoffman is our School Based Mentor for South Routt Middle and High School.  Growing up in New York, she received a BA in Economics from Union College.  After receiving a law degree from Boston College, she worked as an Assistant Public Guardian in Chicago's Juvenile Court, serving abused and neglected children.  Once her first son was born, Anita left the workforce to focus on family.  When her second son was in middle school, Anita was thrilled to get a job as an assistant teacher in an alternative high school outside of Chicago.  Upon moving to Steamboat in 2015, she continued her work with children as a special education paraprofessional.  Anita's dedication to and love for all children makes her an incredible asset for Partners!

Steamboat Springs High School

Meghan Howard is our School Based Mentor at Steamboat Springs High School. Meghan has lived in Steamboat for 6 years and enjoys all that Steamboat has to offer including snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and camping! After graduating from St. Michael's College in Vermont with a bachelors in Sociology, Meghan was drawn to the mountains of Colorado and moved here with her best friend. Meghan enjoys working with kids because they always keep her on her toes and have an interesting perspective on the world. In her free time Meghan likes to practice yoga, go snowboarding, cook at home, and spend time with her boyfriend and her dog.
